I'm really going to spill the beans about myself. (Hope you buy my
auto-biography when it comes out.) ;)
A Little History and A Full Life
Throughout my life I've been a seeker of knowledge. (often times
from the seat of my Harley) Currently I'm in between rides. But I
still love to putt.
As an avid long time martial artist, landscape painter and part time
musician I tend to see things a little different than most folks.
I've been fortunate to have had a very unique life, and this comes
through in my writing.
100 Jobs?
You've heard of people who work at 100 plus different jobs. Well
count me in.
During my long and varied career I've learned from experience. Real
life experience. The kind they don't teach in school. (Oh I've had
plenty of that too).
After graduating high school I decided to experience life a little
before attending college.
Well my little life experiment turned into a 15 year jaunt all over
North America.
I've done everything from building custom motorcycles (choppers) to
training horses.
Have I really had 100's of jobs. Maybe not quite that many but
pretty close.
Here's a few things I've tried...
Building bikes and training young
horses were my favorites.
I've been a biker, long haul trucker, artist, window cleaner,
bartender, bouncer, musician (drummer), construction worker,
dishwasher, seminar and book salesperson, door to door salesman (yes
you really can sell expensive vacuum cleaners to people in their
homes).
I've sold used cars, bikes, home improvement and even martial arts
to name a few. I was even a telemarketer and did pretty good at it
too. Eventually writing telemarketing scripts for other companies
You name it I've probably done it. And all in just a few years
time. Keep in mind many of these gigs only lasted a few days, a
couple of weeks or months. Sometimes only hours.
I've owned and worked at many businesses in many different fields.
All off
them laying the groundwork for my
copywriting and marketing experience.
I've experienced life from both sides of the tracks. I think I've
earned
my PhD in hard knocks and street
survival.
But it made me a better, stronger person. And I'm fortunate for
that. It provides an eclectic base for my copywriting.
Finally Growing Up? I
hope not.
Finally at thirty two, half dead
(literally) and dead broke, I figured it was time for a change.
Time to hit the books again. Three years later I found myself a
couple semesters away from my bachelor of marketing degree.
One day I asked my professor how long he'd been in business. His
reply floored me. He told me he'd never been in business and never
intended to be. He was just a teacher. How could he be teaching
something he'd never done? That was the last time he saw me in
class.
Bitten by the Bug
I'd been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, again. I'm sure glad
the medical profession hasn't come up with a shot to prevent this
bug.
With a loan from my brother I opened a small retail store. I sold
household and gift ware items at discount prices. This was before
every retailer sold discount. Heck I even had an everything for a
buck section. Could I have had a hand in creating the dollar store
craze?
Direct Marketing in My Blood
I've always had intense interest in direct response marketing.
When I was a kid I collected "junk mail" still got some of it to.
I would clip out the coupons from my comic books and order sea
monkeys and other valuable stuff. I love advertising and marketing.
I always dreamt I would grow up to be a mail order specialist. And
in a way I guess that's true.
So writing sales copy came naturally.
I set out to learn more. And I've
never looked back.

books, tapes and live seminars on the subject.
My self induced learning curve cost me an investment of well over
