to Save Your Business Money

As a business owner you're always looking for knew ways to keep more of what you make. It's no secret cutting costs is an important part of your overall strategy.  Or it should be.

After looking into how other financially feasible companies operate this is what I came up with.

Now all of these solutions may or may not work for your particular business.  The methods described here are designed to give you a guide as to what may be possible.

Simply find the ones you think apply to you and then put them into action. You might surprise yourself.

1. Barter

If you own a business your should seriously look at barter. Bartering your goods and services can help relieve some of the financial strain of having to pay full price for what you need.    You should try to trade for something before you buy it.  Most barter deals require little or no money.  Check your local chamber of commerce or business directories to find which companies will do business this way. You may be surprised.

2. Networking

You've heard it over and over again...networking works. Well it's because it's true. Through networking with other businesses and even your own clients, you may discover opportunities you might otherwise have missed. You could sway lists with to cut down on marketing and advertising costs. Who knows where it could lead.

3. Wholesale or Bulk Purchasing

You can sometimes save substantial amounts by purchasing your business supplies in bulk. You might try getting a club or group membership at a wholesale warehouse. Maybe you could buy through a mail order supplier. The trick is to buy the supplies you're always running out of.

4. Online and Offline Auctions

With the growth of online auctions it should be fairly easy for you to find what you're looking for online. Usually you'll lower prices. Now I can't promise this will happen all the time...but before you go and pay full retail try bidding on them first. Who know what you can find.

5. Rent or Borrow

Have you ever bought business equipment you only needed for a short time?  You could have just borrowed the equipment or rented it . You'd only be paying for the time you used it instead of having it sitting in a corner gathering dust.

6. Free Stuff

You could try checking out the many freebie sites on the internet before purchasing any business or office supplies.  You'd be amazed at the many freebie or low cost stuff you can find online. Things like software, website templates, backgrounds, scripts, online business services. You name it.

7. Careful Planning

Make yourself a list.  This could include any business equipment or supplies you might need in the future. Pay attention to stores having big sales or closeout sales on the merchandise you need. Buy your supplies when they go on sale. This way you'll have them when you need them. Plus you'll get them at rock bottom prices.

8. Previously Owned Stuff

Chances are you won't need to buy everything for your business brand new. Instead buy them used. You can find what you need at second hand stores (great for office furniture), Goodwill or Salvation army stores can hold a wealth of gently used stuff you'll need for your business. And don't forget garage sales and auctions. You can find some amazing deals here.

9. Keep Searching

You should always keep your eyes open for new supply sources. There are so many suppliers out there for your business equipment and supplies...don't limit yourself to just one or two. If you look you'll find suppliers with lower prices and better quality.

10. Don't forget to Negotiate

Always try to negotiate a lower price or a better quantity deal on your business supplies and equipment. It never hurts to ask. You negotiate when you're shopping for a new car or even buying a home, why not when you're shopping for business supplies? If you don't feel confident asking for a better deal hit the local library or book store. You'll find all kinds of books on negotiation. Find one that suits your style and then follow the recommended advice.

Now go save some money.
