Writing a convincing ad is one of the secrets to your advertising success.  Ads come in all sizes, shapes and flavors.  But its important to remember the main objective of your ad is to get people to read through the ad and, then to place an order, or click on a link

Most ads just get thrown out, or on the web deleted.  You've only got a few seconds to get your readers attention, to really pull them in.  This is the moment of truth.  If you lose them now they likely wont be back.

Make it easy for your readers to follow the flow of your ad pieces.  Whether offline or online your ads must pull in orders for you to stay profitable.

Online its especially important to get and keep your customers short attention span.  Why should they continue reading if there is nothing exciting to keep them there?

With that in mind Id like to offer you some tips for writing a persuasive ad.

1.      Why not personalize your ad by placing a picture of yourself in your ad?  By putting up your picture you show people that you're a real person too.

Readers identify with you.  It builds trust to actually se you while reading your copy.  It shows them you are not afraid to stand behind your product.

2.      As you craft your ad remember the purpose you have in mind.  What do you want it to accomplish?  Is it designed to bring in sales?  Or do you use a two step method of acquiring leads and following up with more literature or a sales call.  These are important considerations when writing your ad.

3.      Have famous people used your product or service?  Are they celebrities of some sort?  Are they known within your niche?  Mentioning their names in your ad can give you celebrity status in your ad.

5.      Has your product had previous publicity?  If your product has articles published about performance or usability, it can enhance your advertising.  Be sure to include or provide links to any articles, press releases, interviews or other press your product may have received.  Check your trade journals or company newsletters for anything that you could use to make your ad more interesting.

6.      Do a survey of your current or even past customers.  Tally up the results and use them in your ad.  People love to see survey results.  And the survey says

7.      Put up a web site to support your marketing activities.  If you can do it great.  If not hire a pro.  Make sure you maintain control over what goes into your site.  Check out other sites in your niche to get an idea of what's out there.  You'll also want to see how you could improve or enhance your site to do a better sales job for you.

8.      Have you published or released a book, ebook, article or report on your product?  Being recognized as an author gives you instant credibility.  Now you're an expert in your field.  This can really make your ad interesting.

9.       Use endorsements in your ad.  As mentioned in point #2 famous people provide instant credibility to your product or service.  See if you can arrange a celebrity endorsement for your product.  This keeps your ad exciting and convincing.

10.  Make sure to include an ironclad money back or replacement guarantee in your ad.  This should be one of the first things you work on, even before writing your ad.  Risk reversal is vital to alleviating any fear your reader may have about purchasing your product from the ad.  Don't worry your refund requests wont explode.  If you are honest with people upfront most people will not hesitate to return the favor.  So make your guarantee one that you would want to receive.
